Mr. M's Pumpkin Heads

Today I started doing reading assessments on each child and almost finished.  I big thank you to Miss Julie (Sedona's mom), for giving her time not only to watch the children,  but do a read aloud with them.  Their favorite dragon, besides Puff, is named Dragon.  This book was Dragon's Halloween.  In addition, she taught, and guided them through creating their own pumpkins.  Big thank you!

In reading we read One Insect, which combined reading and science as we read, and talked about grasshoppers.  For writing we had the kids form letters based on my verbal cue's only.
Start at the top.
Big line down
Frog jump to the top.
Little line across top.
Little line across middle.
What do you have?  The letter "F"!
They all did really well as I went through all the letters we have done to date, R,E,F,P,B,N,M,D

We had PE today.

Some of my friends I can see have not been feeling 100%.  Some coughing.  So please keep an eye on your kiddos for signs of colds and flu.

In math I did another mid unit assessment based on units 2-3 through 2-5.

To round out our day in social studies I had the kids come up in pairs and compare each other in terms of physical attributes.  It was fun as we continue our look at ourselves and others.
