Duvall Firehouse Visit

Today we made our way up the street to visit the Duvall Fire Department.  With next week being Fire Safety Week we thought we would get an early start.  We were treated to none other than the Chief himself as our tour guide, with help from Weston's dad, Mark, who arranged our visit.  The Chief reminded all the kids that each home should have an evacuation plan, and a place to meet outside the home to insure everyone is accounted for.  Every home should have a smoke detector,  and it should be checked to make sure the battery is operational.  In the event you were to catch on fire, remember to STOP, DROP, and ROLL, to extinguish the flames.  In class we reviewed all these safety measures, and watched a movie on fire fighting and rescue.  I have from the library a fire safety kit for next week, where we will continue this theme.  Some more pictures below.

In reading today we read The Ocean.  In writing, the children wrote about our firehouse visit.  In Envision Math we did unit 2-4.  For social studies,  continuing our "self" theme,  the children drew and decorated themselves.  Hope everyone enjoys their long weekend.
