In social studies today my lesson was on map making. Why do we need maps? If someone came to visit you and wanted to see where the playground, or school was, how could we describe and give directions to them? I hope you are able in the next week to re-discover your neighborhood with your child and use the learning guide I sent home to guide you and the questions to ask. Have them make observations. Map what they feel is important. Make it fun! Let them use their artistic talent. The more details the better. Make it understandable to them. Guide them when they need guiding. Suggest, but don't insist something be one way or the other. Did I say have fun with it? Yes!
In reading we read All Kinds of Faces. We finished the handwriting week with "O", "Q", & "G". They all use what we call magic "C". From which all can be formed from. For today's blindfolded writing choice the topic was school. Today was a PE day. In math it was Envision 03-04.
Remember there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow for Veterans Day. Remind the children to take a moment to reflect on why they have this day off. See them all back on Monday, and have a good weekend.
