While my birthday is tomorrow we celebrated it today with a turkey birthday cake. I told the kids in the morning we would have turkey cake today. Which kept them wondering all day long if the cake would be turkey. I have never seen so much icing on a cake in my 100 years of life. That's how old I will be tomorrow which again had them guessing if I was being less than truthful. They are all learning opportunities to make them think and if it sounds logical.
Crazy hat day was fun. You can only do that on a Friday, and when combined with extra frosting cupcakes, I am asking for trouble.
In reading we read Winter which finishes our AA books, and now we begin some solid A level books. The reading will be more substantial. I can't emphasis enough how important sounding out words is as the key to decoding them. In handwriting we re-capped the letters, Y, Z, and C. In science today we talked about height and how we grow. I measured everyone and posted them on the door across from our room. We will revisit it and see how we grow over the school year. For math we did lesson 03-01.
We ended the day with cake and started Ice Age.
