Day 43

Today we started on level "A" books.  The sentences are longer and the importance of phonics becomes clearer in decoding words.  They all did well today with Bird Goes Home.  I continue to encourage them to read to you their daily reading book.  If they can read it back to you after some nine hours, they are getting it and on their way as emerging readers.
As a benchmark for seeing where your child is with our take home reading program, I want to let you know that the average books read is nine (9).  Some children have read more and some have read less.

In handwriting the letter "O" was our target letter.  While it may seen easy to write an "O",  to do it smoothly, and not jaggedly, is the challenge for them.

We did a Thanksgiving craft today and spoke about pilgrim boys and girls, and what we are thankful for.  I found it very perceptive of them to realize that there are many people and children in the world, including children in our country, who go to bed hungry, without shelter, and clean drinking water.

Music was today and we practiced in the classroom the songs they need to learn for the big Christmas performance.  A separate email went out about clothing we would like them to wear for it.

In math we did Envision  3-2.
