Eddie's Odyssey

Today we reached out our heart's to a little boy in need of a new heart with a prayer, cards, and a token of our love, a bear.  A friend of the Dietrich family, Eddie, needs our prayers and well wishes.  You can read about Eddie at his blog site Eddie's Odyssey.

In reading we read Going Away.  For handwriting letter "S,s".  Sssssssss.  We had time to journal before we talked about Eddie, and then designed cards for him.
In science the first signs of a root was detected.  Or is it a stem?  We will have to see what direction it takes.  The other topic we talked about and watched a  PowerPoint presentation on was Is It Alive.  What determines if something is a living or non-living thing.  Was it ever alive or did it use to be alive?  Ask them what determines what living things are?
We were treated again to one of our classmates reading for us during story time.  Sedona did a wonderful job of reading of Go Dog Go.  She read flawlessly and with great expression.
In math we did lesson 9-8 in preparation of our end of unit test, Friday.  Today I sent home evaluations based on Explode the Code, and emailed you my thoughts on reading, fluency, and phonics.

Get Well Eddie

Sedona reads to the class

Thanks to the students in Mr. M's class for their beautiful cards and for their prayers and kind thoughts. Eddie was able to sit up in a chair today--that is a big deal for him. I know that prayers make a big difference--and we have felt your love and support, kindergarteners! Thanks again to Hillside Academy! Love, Eddie's Mom :-)
