Mr. M's Mighty Kindergarten M&M's

For reading we read It Is Spring.  In handwriting it was lowercase "z" which finishes the alphabet for us with the only thing left in our workbook being sentence structure and punctuation.  We read the room and journaled today, and for phonics we continued lesson 3 in Explode the Code.  I am happy that a few of the kids have been coming in the classroom early to do Explode the Code On-Line.  Way to go Alex, Rylie, and Weston!

In Science we finished our 1st unit on Myself and Others with a final lesson on time and the concept of past, present and future.  The kids brainstormed things in their life that have happened in the past.  Like being a baby, eating baby food, learning to ride a two wheeler, and Pre-School among other things.  For the present they noted our science lesson, or recess this morning, and what we had for lunch.  In the future the kids spoke about driving a car, the upcoming fashion show,  1st grade, and baseball and ski lessons.  Finally I had them draw themselves in the past.  Some drew themselves in baby carriages or strollers.

In Math we finally began Unit 7 which is an introduction to addition in the form of equations as they will come to understand it.  Ex. 2+2=4.
