For reading we read Pond Life. In Let's Find Out we talked about dental hygiene. Brush your teeth twice a day and get a checkup two times a year.
Kids had Creative Movement today. In math we had our end of unit pre-test and test, and results were sent home. Everyone did well in this introduction to addition. For social studies all the students gave presentations of their Heritage Floats, pointing out the details of their floats. We talked again about heritage, and what means of transportation our ancestors used to arrived in North America. We also talked about distinctive dress, foods, and customs from some countries. You might be interested to know that we charted everyone and this is the breakdown for our class.
Germany and Scotland headed the classroom with six children each claiming their heritage to those two countries. Next came the following countries with the number of children with that heritage.
Ireland - 4
England & Norway - 3
Holland, Italy, Czechoslovakia, & Native American - 2
Rounding out the countries with 1 child each claiming heritage are Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, Australia, Wales, Austria, and France.
We are indeed a melting pot or perhaps a mixed salad.
