Our First President

In honor of President's Day next Monday, I had the kids read, with some help, the story book Our First President. It is about the father of our country, George Washington.  We first watched a kids' video of the life of Mr. Washington, and then listened to a rather snappy rap song about him.

In handwriting I introduced our new handwriting book,  and we did letter "A-a".  We wrote the room after, and then for phonics I introduced a new fun game for word recognition, I Have ______, Who Has _______.  The children have unique cards in front of them of the words we are practicing.  After a couple rounds the kids began to get it.  We will include this on a semi-regular basis adding increasingly more difficult words.

In science, I introduced the new unit Animals Two by Two.  We talked about mammals, fish, amphibians, and reptiles,  In this unit, much like with Our Bodies, we will contrast what things make species the same and what makes them different.

For math we did Envision 7.4, which continues with joining numbers together - Addition.

The kids had music and we finished the day with finishing our ugly dolls.

Reminder to bring in your Heritage Float, if you have not done so already.
Reminder to bring in any shoe boxes you have for our leprechaun traps.
