Today in reading we read In and Out.  In handwriting we began our lower case letter formation journey with magic letter "c".  In phonics I introduced the children to Explode the Code Online.  They all seem to have a grasp of it.  Turn them loose on it!  Again, a fun way to learn and understand how to decode words.  I also began working with the class on high frequency site words.  We began with words they should understand from pre-school, but we will review them again and then move on to our kindergarten sight words.

We had PE today.

In math we did lesson 4-7, and we celebrated Hans earning 3 awards from IXL, completing 2 hours of practice, answering 200 questions, and achieving 5% proficiency in the program.  Way to go Hans!  In social studies we talked about neighborhoods, what do signs mean,  and speeding cars.  We also got into a discussion about how neighbors help neighbors.  What if my home was flooded and I could not live there until it was fixed?  What if I lost everything in a fire?  This lead to some great discussion.
