The newest member of our family -Yesssssssss!!!! We had a chic egg hatch! Very cool and the kids were thrilled. More may be on their way.
As you know from yesterday's blog, Eddie underwent his transplant operation early this morning. From all indications things went very well. We continue to pray for him as his body accepts his new heart. When asked this morning what we should name our new chic the thought came to us to name him Eddie. Two new lives started today. One brand new, and one a fresh start. Indeed today was glorious.

In reading we read, Let's Make a Snowman. In handwriting it was let's make a sentence with their word cut outs. In writing we journaled about our new chic's physical attributes. For phonics it was catch up in our workbooks. Some need a little more time, and others are moving forward. Today was Let's Find Out with our classroom magazine. It featured our environment and how we can help it - Saving water, recycling, stopping pollution. In science I gave them a quick quiz on what they remembered about the parts of plants, and what their function are. We also did a mini unit on Is It Living? Here the children decide whether something is living or not. They choose an object card randomly and follow a check off list to determine if the object is living or not. We had cards for a snake, a doll, plant, and robot amongst other objects. They really thought about a rainbow and water. Are they living? Did it fit into the criteria that all living things subscribe to? Science was going so well that I decided to wait on our end of unit math test. We finished our day with music.
